Spent much of today listening to the beatles. Whilst at uni I listened to the red and blue albums pretty much constantly, and Van used to manage to sneak abbey road in occasionally (wasn't a big fan, I know, sacreligious..), but other than that I know very little of their stuff.
Although I've listened to A Hard Day's Night, Beatles For Sale, Help, Please Please Me, With the Beatles and now Rubber Soul, and it's amazing how many of the songs I do actually know. Either because of covers (by the beatles or otherwise), or from my sunday morning 60's radio 2 listening.
Sounds stupid to say, but some fantastic song craft. Proper well written songs. I suppose it's hard to not just get caught up in the happy clappy commercial stuff, but when you actually listen it's, ooh yeah. Cool beans, have a cookie messers McCartney Lennon, Harrison and Starr. Although to be fair, that's a cheap round these days..
Off to watch Panic Room or the Pick of Destiny, not yet decided :)Current Music: Beatles - The Word

working from home this morning (so i can make sure the skip dude doesn't knacker my gates when he picks up).
Great working from home when you get up and actually do things. So far I've had 40minutes browsing the web, weeded the back yard, sprayed the front yard with weedkiller, got myself a coffee, and am now ready to work at 9oclock. phew.
Oh and I have a fence, huzzah. This weekend will involve painting it, but that's all good.
RIght then, works.. |

Just thought I'd share, in a really good mood today!
I've done bugger all really aside from a spending spree this morning. But messing around on lego indy, doing some of my hirst arts church for my models, and doing work as I am now (but fun work, not work work) has put me in a great mood.
Just had a chat with the neighbour about Calvin coming to do the fence on monday or tuesday, so that's one less thing to do and is well sorted.
I've got a stonking pizza for tea, and I think I'll watch Shooting Fish which arrived this morning. Quality film from what I remember. Kind of odd that two of the stars went on to be in vampire films (queen of the damned and van helsing/underworld) whilst the other apparently joined the undead.. in fact let's find out what he did do. Did do do. titter..
yup, pretty much bugger all. A few repeat parts on tv shows, oh he was in judging amy which I think got a limited run over here, or perhaps was on sky? hmm.
Anyway, I digress and ramble, a good way to sit around wondering where saturday went :)

By 910 am this morning I'd already spent 250quid plus. Yay me. lol.
Done my food shopping, filled up the car, then bought a portable air-con unit from the range. It was supposed to be cooler this weekend but judging by this morning being scorching my bedroom will be stifling again.
Just want to use it a night to cool the room before I go to bed, can't sleep in the heat.
Does look a little like a baby Cleaner from doctor who, but that might jsut be me.
In other news, think I'm going to grow my beard back. I've not shaved for four days or so and I already look fairly hairy, so just trim it down to my old goatee and let it grow in I think. Just fancied a change :)
Right then, I really want a coffee but it's a tad warm, so I may settle for an orange juice.

Warm today then. Our air con at work is somewhat feeble. Don't get me wrong, very glad to have it after last summer without, but took three hours to cool the office to a reasonable temp today.
House isn't much better, but at least there's a breeze every 30 seconds or so here. Last night was stifling. Looking at getting a small portable air con unit for my bedroom.
Just got thrown out of the range. Well, the lady asked me to leave my bag at the customer service till. I refused, what with it having my laptop in, so I pootled out again. Harumph. Must look like a light fingered oik today..
Had chip butty and a battered sausage for lunch today. Am now regretting it as it slowly eats my stomach lining away.
Right then, spot of gamery then might see if I can eat something. If I had any milk in I'd probably just have cereal, as it is, no idea.. |

I finally got the Lego Indiana Jones game the other day. It's really good! I loved the star wars one so it was a forgone conclusion I'd like it. They nailed the same goofy sense of humour in the cut scenes, and like SW it really makes the game for me. Just finished Raiders, will have a go on ToD tomorrow.
Right then. I've got Minority Report on dvd, so I think I'll go watch that. Just watched Michael McIntyre Live and Laughing. Extremely funny, I do like a good middle class comedian. Very odd that he does pick up on a lot of the things I think and do, which makes a nice change to actually identify with the jokes. I mean I find lots of comedians funny, it's just I rarely think yeah, that's me. Heh. I might take to skipping everywhere though now, which is dangerous.
Anyway. Beer and filum. Toodles.

Just watched Taken. Excellent film, what a bloody legend that guy is? Superb role for Liam Neeson, very believable and the understated scary guy.
Loved the way it was put together as well, cars that didn't blow up for no reason, gun fights where NO ONE DIES!, fight scenes that look like they actually take effort, and not just the last one against the "big bad". Whole thing felt gritty without trying too hard like the Bourne series. Oh and no shakey cam bollocks, so it gets extra points for that.
If you've not seen it well worth a looksee. Shame it wasn't a bit longer, deserved more.

(if you're imaging little aliens running around then you're old like me)
went shopping at lunch time. I rarely buy clothes, this is the first time this year. A few new shirts, a very cool new sweater, more underwear than you can shake a stick at. A pair of rather funky casual brown shoes and an £8 golf club. How can you go wrong? lol.
Work today was both fast and slow. Seemed to fly by, but some of the stuff I was doing was dull as nails. And dull nails at that!
Nothing on the box tonight. Will watch a filum in an hour or so I reckon. Hmm, what to watch?

Generally quite upbeat about this week. Nothing major on, which is the main thing. Got a meeting about one of the much less stressful jobs on wednesday. Plenty to do of course, but nothing arduous or imminent. The best kind.
Just watched a Family Guy with the entire cast of TNG. Genius, I do like that show. Need to find a screen capture of god as flash gordon flying blind on a rocket cycle. Awesomeness.
Saw a bit of Grease 2 earlier. Is it wrong I knew all the words despite not having seen it in years? That film is of course the start of my thing for Michelle Pfieffer and biker chicks.
Thinking about taking a holiday this year. It'll be in this country, the idea of flying is stressful enough (not the flying, the whole airport thing. like train journies but magnified massively), I was thinking of going to some 5 star hotel in the middle of nowhere and just chilling for a week or so. Sounds pretty good to me. A bit pricey but since my last holiday was erm, 2003? I reckon I deserve a break. It's either that or take two weeks off work. One week always feels a little rushed, like I have to make the most of tuesday, because next tuesday I'll be back at work. If you get me.
I'm also on the cusp of buying a motorbike. It was something I nearly did at my last job when my dad got his. Then Nick had his accident and obviously it put me off. I'm just thinking aside from the sheer awesomeness of owning a motorbike, it'd be great for getting to work. I wouldn't do any long journies, what with me having a rather nice bmw for that. There's a fantastic little Aprilia supersport jobby I reckon I could get for around a grand second hand. Restricted so I could drive it after a CBT (you know you visit the wrong websites when that makes you giggle). Very tempting.
Still waiting on my domain transfer. How long do these things usually take? It's been around a week now since I requested it.Still no email to my registered admin addy as they said would happen. Hmph I say.
I think that's about it. I'm going to bed. Giving up on the Robert Rankin book I've been "reading" for the past 4 months or say. Or rather not reading. Like all his stuff the concept is great, the delivery fantastic, but the style is just so jarring you can't get into the flow. It's like a novelty act, and for the first few chapters it's great. But so hard to sustain. So Simon did book shelvings. Going to reread the Harry Potter series I reckon. I've only read the final one once when it was released, and that was at frenetic pace, so I'll look forward to it. Watched Order of the Phoenix last night. New film must be due soon? July rings a bell..
Anyway. Beddage. Nighty night.

There are 1200+ songs on this playlist.
Winamp picks Oasis Hung in a Bad Place acoustic version. What are the odds it'll then pick the album version next?
I suppose a better question what are the odds it would NEVER do that. But still, it's a little eerie. I'm sure the little goblins in the computer read my screen.. feckers

My jaw still hurts. The gum is starting to settle down though so I hope it'll ease up. I tried to book a dentist appointment today, but was told since it was over two years (I think Jan 07) since my last appointment I couldn't come back. Well I could go private, but since she wanted a 25quid deposit up front just to make an appointment I'm not sure my wallet would like that.
Apparently the local dentist has a waiting list of 4-5 years for nhs dentist places. Is it just me or is the system fucked?
I'll go private if I have to, but my health cover only gives me 90quid back, so it could get steep. A wisdom tooth pulling is somewhere around 500quid, and first private visits tend to range from 50 to 150.
Of course had they told me they'd take me off the list after two years I'd have made an effort.
In other news 900 people who decided they couldn't be fucked going to work got fired. I loled. They've been invited to reapply for their jobs. "So, can you tell me why you left your last job?". "well, er...". Now the unions are trying to kick up a stink, but frankly had they done their jobs in the first place and controlled the proles this problem wouldn't have arisen now would it?
F1 might be about to split into two groups. Sounds like the best thing for F1, getting rid of a load of goits who think they deserve a place in the brand. Could cost those like Ferrari who are signed up for years a lot of money though. Two brands could be interesting, worked for Cart, briefly.
Work yesterday was intense. Left home at 7:25am, got home at 8.45pm. Took us two hours to get over woodhead, a bloody accident on the glossop road just caused carnage. Was very happy to get right side of the penines again, believe you me ;) Day went well though, just long.
Tried to leave early today to make up for it, but was still there at 5pm. Blah.
Right, will now feck around until Hotel Babylon and ncis at 9. Perhaps chill out in a bath.

Did I mention my mouth is killing me? Just got rid of two ulcers on my bottom lip and now have one top right and one right side of my tongue.
Real bugger though is my bottom left wisdom tooth is now forcing its way out. It is growing at about a 45 degree angle to where it should, pointing into my mouth. No real problem since it's not sharp, but there just hasn't been room so it hasn't come through. Now it is and the gums are slowly receding at the back and are very tender. My whole jaw aches though as the teeth resettle themselves.
I'll see what it does to my bite. If it looks like it's screwing up I'll go get it pulled. Don't want to though. Really. Just wish it'd stop aching.
Gah.

Howdy.
So Rockstar have sorted out the redirects and now GTAzz is backonline. Woo. The forums are also up, but the modrewrite issue is kicking their arse. I've asked if we can have a masked redirect rather than the straight url pointer jobbie, which would sort it.
Anyway, my new cars script I wrote for this version of GTAzz has a download counter. The site has been up less than a week and we've had 652 downloads. I'm just completely gobsmacked that that many people still want GTA1 and GTA2 cars. It's great, and I was hoping for a little trickle to show me it's worth investing my own cash this time around, but yeah. woo.
Planning on upgrading the hosting (only went for 250meg and it's almost all full!), and when I do I'll transfer my gw site across from my other host along with the gtazz.com domain and all should make a lot more sense.
Oh and ta to James for mentioning how good nethosted are. It's true, they really are rather handy.
Just watched Clerks 2, only three years late. Very good. I think I agree with Kevin Smith in his intro that it's the best of that set. That set being Clerks, Mallrats and Chasing Amy. I don't think you can group his other view askew stuff in there since it's far more commercial and doesn't quite fit the world. Don't get me wrong, Dogma and JASBSB are awesome films just of a very different style to the Jersey trilogy. Er, quadrilogy.
And Rosario Dawson is definitely on my list of people I'd like to.. you know. Hah. She gets in on two accounts (that lucky girl, her), because she has dark skin and a big smile. Two soft points for me.
Aren't you glad you read this journal? If you didn't you wouldn't know those things. Does make me woner what important piece of information got pushed out to make room for it though. If you find yourself forgetting how to change gear or the proper form of polynomial equations then I apologise. Whilst laughing maniacally.
So I haven't updated properly in ages. Which is odd since I'm usually so talkative. Work is intense at the moment, to the point of nearing implosion. As such not been doing much of anything of an evening.
Scotland trip was good. Didn't break 100, but I broke 110 and on the back 9 first day scored a 49 which cheered me right up.
Finally bought Jonathan Creek on dvd, so I'm working my way through them. Finished Series 1 last night :). Also bought Coupling series 4, which isn't quite as good as the others but worth owning if only for the in jokes back referencing the other series. Phew.
Finished GTA4 for the second time. Busy pootling around with side missions (and writing articles about it for my website, oh yeah check my shit out ;)). Going to buy DoW 2 this week though. It's only 15quid now, the benefits of waiting a month or two.
TV which is good: Chuck is back (see previous post of glee), Kingdom is back (I'm middle aged and you love it you sluts), Big Bang Theory is about to end (noooo), Hotel Babylon is back next week (I'll withhold judgement on the new cast till I see it).
Righty ho. Off to pootle around t'net until 9 for kingdomage.
Toodles.

That was phenomenal. I've been watching motorsport for years, and short of the Rossi-Gibernau battle at Valencia, and the pass from Zanardi on Herta in 96 that was the most intense final lap I've seen.
The whole race was awesome stuff, Lorenzo has finally figured out how to keep the rubbery bit down on the bike and is flying, but that last lap was just intense.
I can genuinely say in the last ten years formula 1 hasn't done that to my heart rate of adrenaline levels.
When bbc puts up highlights I'll add a linky because even if you're not a race fan you have to see this shit

Greetings from.. well right here. I've love to show you a satellite photo but apparently spy satellites don't pass over here. My guess is the scots shoot them down.. suspicious bunch that they are. Bless em.
So I'm buggered. We've driven 240 odd miles so far and played 36 holes of golf. Would have been more but struggled to get on this morning. Too many comps are played on saturdays up here (it's sundays back home).
Tomorrow morning we're going to play Newcastleton, the course in the village we're staying in. Not a fantastic course, but convenient and challenging.
My golf has been shocking so far. Well no, yesterday wasn't bad, played a 108. I was aiming to break 100 but it just didn't happen. Today I went out in 60, haven't added up what I scored back in but unless it was a 39 it's looking doubtful ;). If it's near a 50 I'll be happy though.
Deciding what to have for tea tonight. Last night was battered mushrooms followed by charred rib eye. Both were fantastic. Tempted by the steak and ale pie, which is done properly with huge chunks of actual identifiable steak. Strewth. We'll see.
Loads to ramble about, but the battery is getting low and there doesn't seem to be a power supply in here. Going to go down to the bar now anyway and pretend to be sociable with my dad. That's the trouble with driving so far to get here, most topics of conversation are expired.
Back home about 4 ish tomorrow which is good. Just in time for 17 hours sleep before work :)

"Kill Bill and Kung Fu star David Carradine has been found dead in a Bangkok hotel room at the age of 72. "
So it's sucky that the guy died, but seriously, what a fucking awesome obit. I refuse the read the full story in case it turns out he fell sitting down to take a shit or something.
From now on he'll be cemented as the guy who died banging fifteen birds whilst snorting good shit in bangkok. Duder.

So it's european and mayoral elections tomorrow. They've given us two votes for mayor, which is confusing me somewhat, since i can't decide what to do with my second vote. We have a weird set of choices anyway around here.
Basically I could vote for the labour bint, but I'd rather poke myself in the eye with a tuning fork. There's the BNP, but then even if I agreed with all their policies (which I don't) I couldn't vote for them on the grounds they a bunch of ignorant oiks who couldn't find their arseholes with both hands, a shovel and a tom tom. The English Democrats are basically BNP-lite, and equally as repuslive an option.
So that leaves three independants. One of which is essentially running on the "I'm old, so are you, vote for me" ticket, so granted whilst I'm ageing quickly most policies about care in the home don't really hit me. The other two seem to be pretty damned generic. We will make doncaster luverly and frown at the nasty people but not be too nasty or they might not come back.
Hrm.
European is somewhat easier since you only get one choice.
Whatever happens I hope Labour get the anal raping they deserve, and is widely predicted.
As was pointed out, Hazel Blears, communities punter who is Labour's link to the local council, resigning on the eve of the local elections kind of speaks volumes about the farce that is new labour at the moment. None of the parties has got away with their expenses dabbling, but Labour do seem to have fucked it good and proper. Heh.
Right then. Transporter 3 came today for a bit of suitable daftness. I also now have Coupling season 4 so I may watch an episode whilst I eat.
At Castleford Tigers in the morning about a potential project, then Friday I'm away to bonnie(ish) scotland. However the hotel now has free wifi, so I'll be sure to post from up north :)
toodles

Heya. Nearly a week since my last update. Must be some kind of record.
as is the number of scabby oiks wandering around outside tonight. Perhaps there's been a white lightning delivery locally? All about twelve, all dressed like they're 23, all I wouldn't even touch with yours. Shudder.
Anyway. So it's hot again, but not unpleasantly so thanks to a breeze. Enjoying the weather in my usual way (hiding inside from it till it goes away), but enjoying it none the less. I'm really starting to love my alternate saturdays when I don't have to go shopping. I get up at 8 as usual, then come in here, sit in the sunshine and piss about on the internet or program a little or generall chill until lunch time. It's great, and I tend to get so much done.
This afternoon however seems to have disappeared on me. Hmm. Watched Hocus Pocus at lunch time, awesome film for so many reasons, Omri Katz (Eerie Indiana baby!), the rather attractive girl (who is older than me, and since I first saw the film when it came out it's ok to letch a little, right?), but mostly for Sarah Jessica Parker blatantly having the time of her life acting the fool. Amok amok amok.. hehe. Quality.
Didn't bother watching the cup final. I understand Chelsea won. I'm fairly apathetic either way.
Should be playing snooker tomorrow, must remember to record the motogp for watchings upon my return.
Oh went really well at the fire service hq place. Interesting to note that not only is the thing about good looking firemen true, it applies equally to firewomen. Who knew?
Oop skank alert, another two walking past. That must be at least thirty today. I feel like I need a shower just looking at them., ick.
And to the reasonable looking people walking past now, I genuinely never understood the thing about drinking beer in the street. Why not drink before your leave or upon your arrival? And isn't it illegal anyway in this country to drink in public? I thought there were local statutes against this kind of thing? Hmm.
Ok then, enough procrastination. I've got Mutant Chronicles on dvd to watch, and whilst I really want it to be good for many reasons, I can't completely ignore the masses who say it's shite. We shall go find out now!
